Languages of West Bengal

The most common language spoken in West Bengal is Bengali or Bangla, also spoken in Bangladesh. And Bengali is among the top ten languages in the world. Bengali language has among 250 million native speakers. And also in Bangladesh it is the most widely spoken language. And in Jharkhand it is the second official language in that state. After Hindi, Kashmiri, Meitei and Gujarati, Bengali is one fastest growing language in India. And as for written Bengali, there are two written standard forms, cholitobhasha and sadhubasha. Bengali is also spoken in Tripura, Assam, Andaman and Nicobar island and also in other states like Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Delhi, Gujarat. Bengali was made the official language of Bangladesh through the 3rd article of constitution of India. The national anthem of India, Jana Gana Mana was also written in Bengali. Kazi Nazrul Islam has also written Bangladesh's national march in Bengali, which is “chol, chol, chol”. and also Bangladesh's national anthem is in Bengali, “amar sonar Bangla”. the song Vande Matram, written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee, was also written in Bengali, later considered as national song of India.
