Dresses of West Bengal

West Bengal is not only rich for its language, traditional dance and music, but also fir its traditional dresses. First includes sarees, which also had different styles like dhakai jamdani, korial and garad, baluchari sarees, tant sarees, Tussar silk sarees, muslin, kantha silk. Traditional dresses of bengal is famous for its traditional sarees. Jamdani saree includes flower patterns woven through gold or silver threads. One of the most known traditional sarees of Bengali women include garad, which is a white coloured saree with red bordered strips. Garad and korial sarees are closely connected to religion, since they are worn during the most famous festival that is durga puja, and also during weddings and other religious festivals. And the way this saree is draped is also different from the styling of normal sarees. Baluchari sarees are made from golden thread and includes Indian mythology. And tant sarees are most popular in west bengal, and is extremely light weight and can be draped easily. Tussar silk is more textured than normal silk and also used for weaving jamdanis and balachuris. And this sarees are made in the malda district of west bengal. Many women in west bengal also wear sarees made from muslin material and embroided with delicate patterns, to give it elegant look. And such sarees are quite luxurious too. And talking about men, men in west Bengal wear Panjabi kurta and dhoti, this kurtas can either be short long. Although, Panjabi kurtas are similar to those common kurtas worn by men, but the fabric used in Panjabi kurta is different from those used in simple one. Bengalis use Tussar- silk, cotton- silk. And garad silk kurtas are the traditional attires for men during weddings.
