Tamil Nadu which has rich cultural heritage is a southern state of India. It is famous for its temples, food and culture. The clothing symbolizes the culture of Tamil Nadu. Many types of dress materials are used for the dresses like chiffon, cotton, organza, and out of which silk the most used cloth material, especially for wedding dress of bride. Sari is the most significant part of traditional dresses of women in Tamil Nadu. And especially silk saris. And these saris are worn in temples, or during weddings. Traditional dresses of female include, saree, Kanchipuram silk saree, madisar, pavada davani etc. And the Tamil Nadu women also wear gajra in their head on saree to give it more traditional look. For weddings women either wear Kanchipuram saree or Madurai saree. The madisar has an important significance in the Tamil Nadu’s brahmins. While Kanchipuram silk sarees are known as “queens of saree”. the ones who design Kanchipuram sarees are inspired from temple architecture and mythology. The pavada davani is worn teenage girls of Tamil Nadu, which a half - saree and holds a deep cultural meaning, which means marking these girls transition to womanhood. The most common traditional dress for men in Tamil Nadu is lungi along with shawl called angavastram over their shoulder. And this is the traditional attire that is worn in weddings too. And along with is also worn shirt. And with this they apply vibhuti and sandal paste on their forehead, as a part of tradition.
